The First Day of School: Smiles and New Beginnings
First day is morning. Children are new shoes and new bags. Teachers get smiles and hugs.
Parents wave hands and smile with pride. Gossip and laughter in the corridors. There is smell of friendship in the air.
Old friends come back. New friends visit. School is in session, bell ringing.
Habit gets firmly established in the final week of the week. Bell rings, sound of activity. Sports and clubs go on. Activity aplenty. The year picks up on an adrenaline high.

These breaks are reused. They prepare us for the subsequent ones.

Safety first, always. Bad weather and Henrico relocates. Parents alerted by email and text message. Cancellations and rescheduling no problem. Make-up days keep everyone on the same timetable. Safety always at the top of the list.
