Mount Vernon School Calendar 2024–2025: Building, Learning, and Growing Together Each and Every Day of the Year

Mount Vernon School Calendar is not merely dates and numbers. It is history of the whole school community. It is history of celebrations, holidays, achievement, and milestones.

It all counts the first school bell on the first day of August, in December during the middle of recess time, for the world in May. This 2024-2025 handbook is an exploration of each and every school year experience, what, when, and why it counts. Every single day counts at Mount Vernon.

The First Day of School: New Energy, New Dreams

First day of school is always the best. Smiling faces in hallways. Door-opening teachers greeting students. New books, new uniform, and lots of smiling faces.

Parents smile as they wave goodbye. Little students with little backpacks. Seniors smile as they wave goodbye.

Orientation week is settling-in time that everyone has to endure. Students get to see their teachers, their classrooms, and settle in. It’s ramp-up and settling-in time.

By the last week of the first week, campus is buzzing again.

Learning Tools and Technology

Technology brings every classroom to life.

Project work, homework, and online discussion are student tasks.

Assignments are done on homework sites that also send reminders home.

Every grade level has technology—interactive labs, smartboards, tablets.

There’s a human factor there, however. Technology is used as a supplement and not in place of human instruction.

Teacher Workdays and Professional Development

It takes a good teacher to have a good class.

Mount Vernon educators have school day schedules throughout the year.

Teachers set up classes and have workshops but the children stay home.

These alternative learning options offer high-quality instruction to students.
