2024–2025 Priorities: Building Strong Foundations

2024–2025: The year of action and forward progress. The board is committed to some of the most pressing priorities which cross all divisions of Loudoun’s education.

Core Priorities:

Education excellence for all students

Support of teachers and staff

Safety and well-being in all of our schools

Fiscal responsibility and wise use of our resources

Family and community engagement

Equity and inclusion in all of our classrooms

They inform all of our meetings and all of our decisions.

Those are Loudoun values — that all children are owed the very best beginning.

Academic Vision: Learning That Lasts

The board believes in the concept of learning being experiential, innovative, and dynamic.

It envisions classes that capture children’s attention, not minds.

STEM, art, athletics, and leadership classes are up for consideration. Being college-prepared and life-prepared is the vision.

The board works with the principals and the teachers in an effort to make the classes rigorous and interesting.

School learning also takes place outside the classroom. It’s confidence and mentorship building.

Assisting Teachers and Staff

Teachers are what make a school. The board says with professional development, competitive pay, and training.

Professional development days and workshops provide teachers with some time to share ideas and learn new ways of teaching.

The board provides what the staff also provides — safety, equipment, and technology.

Successful teachers equal successful students.

Safety and Well-being: Every Student Matters

Safety and Well being

Safety never gets on the back burner or even appears on the board agenda board.

The board ensures all of our campuses are safe and inviting. Emergency response plans are reviewed.

There are additional mental health services.

There is support staff, nurse and counselor staff, to help in need students.

It is accessible. Our students matter. Our students are seen. Our students are family.

Budget and Resources: Future Focused

The board invests one of the state’s largest school budgets wisely.

Teachers are purchased with dollars, computers, facility upkeep is subsidized, and programs are subsidized.

There is not one dollar that magically appears. Everything that has to do with money is voted on in the open for parents to view where their dollars are spent.

Financial stewardship is an obligation — not an aspiration.

Family and Community Partnerships

The board believes that families must be engaged where learning is occurring.

Parents are encouraged to become engaged through input, meetings, and activity.

Community organizations come forward as partners of the board to give students an opportunity — scholarship and volunteer mentoring.

School and community partnership makes Loudoun an excellent community.

Equity and Inclusion: Schools for All

Every child should be treated equally and given opportunity.

Equity and justice is what the board is all about.

We value diversity. Daily, inclusion is a practice.

Programs seek to envelop every child in love and room to flourish.

The board continues to read policies so that nobody gets left behind either.

Communication and Transparency

First of all, communicating is. Parents are made aware through newsletters, the district web site, and open board meetings.

Parents can read agendas, reports, and budgets whenever they want.

The work is simple  open minds and open doors. Any Loudoun resident should be heard on the school controversy.

Hearing the Future: Student Voice

Students are students. Students are not leaders.

The board does have some student members and offer comment and opinion.

They meet together and they discuss what does work, what does not work, and how to make it work better in schools.

They are numbered. They shape the future.

Issues and Solutions Tomorrow

There are challenges every year  leading-edge technology, growing populations, and evolving needs.

The Loudoun County School Board believes in welcoming them with open arms.

Through planning, communicating, and collaborating, every challenge is an opportunity to do things better.

Their vision always children happy and learning to love it.

Community Involvement: Becoming Involved

Parents can attend meetings, read it on-line, or serve on an advisory committee.

Every voice will be heard. Every voice counts.

Everyone can provide advice  parents, students, teachers.

People stay engaged by listening.

Looking Ahead: The Vision Beyond 2025

The board vision sees beyond next year.

It gazes into the future to schools bursting with happy children, cherished and equipped for life.

It gazes into the future to growth, new classrooms, and more one-to-one interaction with families.

All of the dreams are leading Loudoun into a finer, sweeter, and better-educated future.
