D11 School Calendar 2024–2025: Growing Together in a Year

D11 School Calendar 2024–2025 is not just a calendar of dates. It’s the beat of a year of success, of smiles, of learning.

Each day on this calendar matters — from that excitement of the first day of school in August to that graduation day in May when they’re grown. It’s about hardworking teachers, hardworking families, and dreamers who vow to dream big.

Colorado Springs District 11 isn’t bells and classrooms. It’s where human beings are produced in the thousands each day.

First Day of School: New Beginnings, New Energy

There’s always that bright, sunny first day of school in D11. Sun over mountains, buses make the round, and families take the first-day-of-school photo.

Wide-eyed and curious students arriving. Greeted with happy smiling faces of district staff. New classroom, new opportunities.

Bonding week: first week — establishing rhythm, routine, and new friendships. Abdomen laughter in hallways by Friday afternoon. School off to great start.

May hums with activity — pride, achievement, and nostalgia mixed together.

Learning does take place. Effort and progress and achievement are monitored by D11 teachers.

Progress Reports: Printed halfway through the semester.

Report Cards: Quarter mailed.

Parent–Teacher Conferences: Time to establish goals, express concerns, and bask in achievement.

Parent-home connections are valued by us. Parents are your child’s education partner.

Families and Community: The Heart of D11

Families and D11 schools thrive together. Parents volunteer, staff booths, and pack out every concert and game.

Much of what goes on in D11 life is covered under sports.

By Season:

  • Fall: Football, Soccer, Cross Country, Volleyball
  • Winter: Swimming, Wrestling, Basketball
  • Spring: Tennis, Track and Field, Baseball, Softball

School by work and pride and not sport by discipline classes. Cheer and song day every day and Friday fun day. Students proud on and off the field, school and team D11.

Technology and Learning Innovation

D11 classrooms are stop-shops for creativity and innovation.

Interactive whiteboards, tablets, and web packages bring learning to life. Web-based collaboration that enables after-school learning.

Teachers are as valuable as service learning, labs, and paperwork.

Parents are as good as web sites and computer programs for text-app, home-school nurturing communication.

Teacher Workdays and Professional Development

Good teachers = good schools.

D11 has Professional Development Days during the school year so teachers can lesson plan, exchange ideas, and become professionally certified.

Teachers re-train and re-fresh when students are not present in school.

School days pass smoothly and successfully when school days.

Make-Up and Emergency Days

Coloradans know well that weather does not always behave. When storms or snowstorms compel school closures, safety is never considered.

Parents are immediately alerted by email, SMS, and school district website.

Make-up days are scheduled as necessary so class time is never lost.

Delightful planning and communication.

Student Well-being and Support

D11 student well-being is excellent.

Programs:

  • Wellness Week (Oct): Balance, kindness, and health workshops.
  • Career Week (February): Purring down dreams and goals.
  • Mindfulness Mondays: Quiet relaxation time in class.
  • De-Stress Days (May): Guided pre-exam sessions.

The support staff, the nurses, and the counselors just do this wonderful thing of individualizing each of the children as safe and loved.

Community and Service: Giving Back Together

They don’t only enjoy service here, not even in D11. They learn from service, and what they gain from service is that service empowers us and unites us.

Projects Include:

  • Food Drives to Neighbors in Need in the Community
  • Park and Trail Adopt-a-Thons: Clean-Ups
  • Holiday Giving Trees
  • Fundraisers to Benefit Community Organizations
  • Peer Tutoring and Mentoring

Service gives us respect and compassion. Service also reminds the students that learning and kindness are a package.

Season Highlight: Spirit of the Year

  • Fall: Enthusiasm and back to school.
  • Winter: Grit, perseverance, and looking back.
  • Spring: Resurrection, sunshine, and joy.
  • Summer: Rest, planning, and looking back.

Each month is a yearbook page.

End-of-Year Parties and Graduation

May is pride days.

Field days, concerts, and awards assemblies are planned. The last week is a week of smiles and tears.

And then graduation day comes, and relatives and family fill the bleachers with pride. Caps go flying in the air. Teachers smile in pride that they were able to make an impact.

It is a beginning of something and an ending of something else.

Student Leadership: Voices That Inspire

Leadership begins early in D11.

Students lead, serve, and small-wins listen via Ambassador programs, peer mentoring, and Student Council.

Students welcome warmer students, host mini-parties, and pay forward on campus. To lead is to serve others.

Teacher Appreciation: A Week to Show Appreciation

Teacher Appreciation Week is in May at all D11 schools.

  • Small thank-you notes and kid-made gifts.
  • Smile and thank-you paper covering all the hallways.

A reminder of it all — listening, sharing, cheering daily.

Environmental Awareness: Loving Colorado

Because there exists a school district somewhere in the world where earth love comes first.

Kids plant seeds in the ground, recycle, and do Earth Week activities. Learn to maintain close-by mountains, rivers, and parks after school.

Small actions do add up.

After Year’s End Reflection: A Job Well Done

D11 schools capture accomplishment on last day of New Year’s recess.

Students are in control. Teachers reminisce about stories, memories of last year. Parents look back with thankfulness as wee bairns grow strong and smart.

D11 School Calendar 2024–2025 is not just days and months, pals. It is a quest, an odyssey of a thousand possibilities.

Smiles, discovery, love on every page — home away from home school never disappoints.
